Winter storm Elli jeopardizes Pauli game against Leipzig

Heavy snowfall and stormy weather are forecast for the north on Friday. The Bundesliga match between FC St. Pauli and RB Leipzig could also be affected.

The Bundesliga match between FC St. Pauli and RB Leipzig is at risk due to the onset of winter and further predicted heavy snowfall in Hamburg and throughout the north. "In view of the weather situation, we cannot guarantee that the game can take place under the given circumstances," the club wrote on its website two days before the game on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky).

No amateur soccer in Hamburg

It applies to the region in and around Hamburg, the north of Lower Saxony and the south and west of Schleswig-Holstein. These weather conditions and the snowfall are expected in northern Germany from Friday morning and for around 24 hours.

The Hamburg Football Association (HFV) had already canceled all amateur matches up to and including Sunday on Wednesday.
