RB managing director Marcel Schäfer only wants to let attacking player Xavi Simons leave if he receives a strong offer from Leipzig. "We know his great ambitions to play in a top league for a title contender. He wants to prove himself at the highest level. And if it makes economic sense, we are open. But only then," Schäfer told Sport Bild.
Until then, the 22-year-old Dutch international will remain in the starting eleven for the Bundesliga club. "If it doesn't make economic sense for us, we look forward to another season with this outstanding player," said Schäfer. In the first cup round at the weekend, coach Ole Werner started Simons from the beginning in Sandhausen. The attacker set up a goal in the 4-2 win and scored one himself.
Swap with Chelsea?
RB are reportedly looking to generate transfer income of more than 100 million euros this summer. Even after the sale of Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United for 76.5 million euros, this has not yet been achieved. According to reports, the Saxons also want more than 70 million euros for Simons. One trail leads to Chelsea FC in the Premier League. In return, Christopher Nkunku could return to RB.
