The transfer of soccer coach Ole Werner from Werder Bremen to RB Leipzig is getting closer. According to dpa information, Werder and the Saxons have come very close in the tug-of-war over the transfer fee. The signing of Werner as successor to head coach Marco Rose, who was suspended in March, has not yet been finalized. However, negotiations are very advanced.
It remains to be seen when a final agreement will be reached. Kicker" and "Bild" also reported a breakthrough in the negotiations.
Werner was released by Werder after he informed the Bremen club that he did not want to extend his expiring contract. According to reports, Werder demanded a transfer fee of six million euros. Leipzig were not prepared to pay this.
Many names were traded
In addition to Werner, the two Bremen assistant coaches Patrick Kohlmann and Tom Cichon are also likely to disappear from the Werder payroll in the event of a transfer, as they would also move to RB.
In Leipzig, Zsolt Löw was in office as interim coach until the end of the season following Rose's departure. In addition to Werner, Cesc Fàbregas (Como) and Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace) were also previously under discussion for the head coach position. Denmark's Jacob Neestrup from FC Copenhagen had also been mooted as a possible new coach. RB will start their pre-season preparations with the first training session on July 14.
