After ten years as a player and youth coach, Sebastian Heidinger is leaving RB in the summer. His successor has already been found. Like youth coach Wagner, former Mainz players are coming to Leipzig.

Bundesliga club RB Leipzig is parting ways with its U19 head coach Sebastian Heidinger in the summer. The club announced this on its website. The 40-year-old's contract, which is due to expire, will not be extended after ten years as a player and coach. This also applies to assistant coach Ronny Thielemann.

"Sebastian Heidinger has made an enormously important contribution to our young talent at RB Leipzig in recent years. With his professional quality, his passion for the development of young players and his personality, he has had a lasting impact on the work of our U19s and the entire youth academy," said David Wagner, Head of Youth Development.

The successor has already been appointed. Marc Heidenmann will take over the U19s from July 1. He will be supported by Daniel Zolotarev. Both are moving to Leipzig from the youth section of 1. FSV Mainz 05, where they have been in charge of the U17s since 2024. Like global RB head of soccer Jürgen Klopp, head of youth development Wagner also has a Mainz past. He played together with Klopp at FSV from 1991 to 1995. After that, Klopp was coach of Mainz from 2001 to 2008.
