SC Magdeburg are winners of the EHF Champions League, as they were in 2002, 2023 and 2025 - and, as in previous triumphs, the team and coaching team will be welcomed by the head of the city. Magdeburg's mayor Simone Borris congratulated them on Instagram on Sunday evening and announced a celebration on the Alter Markt.
"I am so incredibly proud of our boys, the coaching staff, the support team and the entire team around them!" wrote Borris, adding: "See you tomorrow at 6 pm in the Old Town Hall and celebrate with the fans on the Old Market Square!" The heroes of Cologne are then likely to be cheered extensively on the town hall balcony.
