The women's handball club Thüringer HC suffered its first defeat in its third game in the German league. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller lost by the clear margin of 25:35 (14:18) at HSG Blomberg-Lippe after a disappointing performance and is now on 3:3 points. The hosts, who have no losses, thus took impressive revenge for their 30:31 defeat in the Supercup three weeks earlier. In front of 912 spectators, Johanna Reichert was the THC's best scorer with eleven goals.
The Thuringians got off to a good start in offense and also benefited from strong saves by their goalkeeper Laura Kuske in the opening spell. They were 8:6 ahead after 15 minutes. However, the home side then came more and more to the fore and consistently punished THC's overly passive defending in the center.
Blomberg was also more effective after the break and quickly stretched its lead to 23:16 in the 36th minute. Müller reacted with a timeout, but little changed in the course of the game. HSG ran out deserved winners in the end.
