The handball players of Thüringer HC continue to go from victory to victory in the German league. On Wednesday evening, the team of Head Coach Herbert Müller won the top game at previous league leaders Borussia Dortmund by an unexpectedly clear 33:23 (16:12) after a brilliant performance.
The best scorer for the THC, which is now third in the table with 20:4 points after its seventh win in a row, was once again Johanna Reichert. The league's top scorer hit 14 goals.
Three days after the spectacular 43:35 home win against Larvik HK in the European League, the Thuringians started confidently in Dortmund and repeatedly created gaps in the BVB defense with fast ball movement. However, the home side also quickly found its rhythm in attack, with the result that a high-class duel at eye level developed.
The game was completely even until 11:11 in the 22nd minute, before THC punished BVB's seven-minute scoring drought with a 4:0 run to make it 15:11 in the 29th minute.
After the break, Dortmund stalked back to 18:20 (37') with quick finishes, but the stable THC defense only conceded one more goal in the next 14 minutes.
The club from Thuringia also maintained its high level in attack and developed tremendous penetration, especially at the back through Reichert. With an 8:1 run to make it 28:19 (51'), they ensured a preliminary decision early on.
