The women's handball club Thüringer HC has returned to winning ways in the German league. Four days after the narrow 33:35 defeat in Metzingen, the team of Head Coach Herbert Müller won clearly 35:21 (20:12) at bottom-of-the-table HSG Bad Wildungen Vipers on Saturday evening. In front of 450 spectators, Austria's Johanna Reichert was once again the THC's best scorer with seven goals and the club remains in fourth place with 35:11 points, which entitles it to participate in the European League.
The club from Thuringia struggled to get into the game in offense, but benefited from the fact that the home side was tempted to make difficult shots and technical mistakes against the agile THC defense. When the visitors stepped up the pace in attack, they produced a 5:0 run to open up a comfortable 12:4 lead in the 19th minute. An open exchange of blows then ensued. Müller made a number of changes in the first half without the THC's flow of play drying up.
Shortly after the break, the Thuringians led by double digits for the first time (22:12). Although they allowed themselves to be a little careless afterwards in their feeling of clear superiority, they nevertheless extended their lead to the end and so secured their ninth away win of the season in commanding fashion.
