The Bundesliga handball players of Thüringer HC have reached the quarter-finals of the European League. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller won its last group game at Norwegian first-division club Larvik HK by 34:28 (17:17) after a strong final spurt. Johanna Reichert was the best scorer for the defending champions with eleven goals as they secured first place in Group A with four wins and two defeats.
After an even opening phase in which both teams consistently pushed the pace, the Thuringians pulled four goals ahead for the first time by the 21st minute (14:10). However, they then repeatedly revealed weaknesses in their retreat. As a result, the Norwegians often scored easy goals and took a 21:18 lead shortly after the break (36').
The THC quickly closed the gap and showed a much greater will to win in the final quarter of an hour. The visitors produced an 8:1 run to pull 32:24 ahead in the 54th minute.
