The handball players of ThSV Eisenach still have to wait for their first away point in the German league. The team of Head Coach Sebastian Hinze lost 26:27 (11:14) at Bergischer HC on Thursday evening. Oskar Joelsson was the Thuringians' best scorer in their eighth away defeat of the season with seven goals and they are now on 11:21 points.
Both teams started the encounter at a high tempo. Eisenach went 6:5 ahead after seven minutes, but then failed to score for almost nine minutes as they were repeatedly thwarted by the outstanding BHC goalkeeper Christopher Rudeck. The home side turned the game around, but made too many technical mistakes to build a more comfortable cushion by the break.
After the break, Eisenach switched to an attacking style of defense and produced a 4:0 run to take an 18:17 lead (41'). A fiercely contested duel ensued, in which not only Rudeck, but also Eisenach's goalkeeper Matija Spikic shone on several occasions. The game was on a knife's edge until 24:24 (54'), before the home side pulled 27:24 (58') ahead.
