The handball players of ThSV Eisenach have celebrated their fifth home win in the Bundesliga. The team coached by Sebastian Hinze defeated TVB Stuttgart 28:24 (14:16) on Thursday evening. Vincent Büchner was the Thuringians' best scorer in front of 2,850 spectators with eight goals and they now have 10:14 points.
After an evenly poised opening spell, Stuttgart, who are coached by former Eisenach coach Misha Kaufmann, gained the advantage thanks to their backcourt shooters and pulled 11:8 ahead midway through the first half (16:16). The home side fought back, but its attacking play suffered from inaccurate passing.
After the break, Eisenach developed far more penetration at the back and went on a 6:1 run to take a 20:17 lead (38'). The Thuringians' flow of play then slackened, but the increasingly strong goalkeeper Silvio Heinevetter secured the lead. Eisenach picked up the pace again in the final spell and pulled 26:22 ahead in the 54th minute.
