Third-division soccer club Hallescher FC has reacted with deep sadness and dismay to the death of a fan. "It is with deep pain and a sad heart that we remember a member of our red and white family. The certainty of his loss has hit us hard. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family and loved ones. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time," the HFC announced on Facebook.
An incident occurred during Saturday's third division match between Halle and 1. FC Saarbrücken (0:2). A spectator had to be given intensive medical treatment and resuscitated by emergency doctors. The man subsequently died in hospital, the HFC announced on Sunday. The fans had stopped their support between the 20th and 45th minute during the rescue operation.
