Tarnat relies on Aue's potential - advisors offer players

Aue's new sporting director Michael Tarnat believes the relegation-threatened third-division soccer club is capable of much more than the current position in the table would suggest. "I know that there is incredible quality in the dressing room. I am convinced that the team is better than its position in the table," said the former German international at his presentation. After 19 match days, the Saxons are in 16th place.

The Aue fans are hoping for added value from Tarnat's broad network in particular. "A lot" of advisors have already contacted him in the past few days. "After it became known that I was doing this here, I received a lot of congratulations for the new year and then they directly said, I have a player there," reported the 56-year-old.

Tarnat won the Champions League with FC Bayern in 2001 and was head of the youth training center at Munich and Hannover 96 after his active career. Most recently, he lived in the Bavarian capital. "Everyone told me it's a culture shock when you come from the big city, but I don't feel that way at all. The Mulde flows through the city - at first I thought it was the Isar," joked Tarnat.
