The basketball players of the Syntainics MBC have celebrated a successful home opener in the German league. The team of Head Coach Marco Ramondino defeated Telekom Baskets Bonn 84:77 (44:33) in front of 2,500 spectators on Thursday evening. Captain Charles Callison stood out for the MBC with 21 points and five assists.
Four days after the 93:85 win in Hamburg, the club from Weißenfels began confidently and immediately found its rhythm in offense. They produced a 12:1 run to open up a 17:5 gap early on (6th minute). Although the MBC eased off as a result, Bonn was hardly able to capitalize on that, as it missed all of its ten three-point attempts up to the break.
After the break, the home side quickly pulled 51:36 ahead in the 23rd minute. They had everything under control up to 71:58 in the 31st minute before completely losing the thread in offense. Bonn fought its way back to 68:71 (35') and heralded a thrilling final spell in which the MBC was able to rely on Callison's leadership qualities. With a lay-up to make it 81:75 with 37 seconds remaining, he ensured the preliminary decision.
