The handball players of SV Union Halle-Neustadt were unable to gain any breathing space in the battle to stay in the league. Coach Till Wiechers' charges conceded a clear 20:35 (10:19) defeat at home to fifth-placed HSG Blomberg on Saturday. Ona Vegue Pena (8/5), Laura Rüffieux (6) and Nieke Kühne (5) played the biggest part in the visitors' deserved success. Julia Niewiadomska (5/2) and Alexandra Lundstrom (4/2) scored the most goals for Halle.
The home side trailed from the very first minute. Blomberg pulled away from 3:2 (8th minute) to 10:3 (19th minute) and was ahead by ten goals for the first time (20:10) just two minutes after the restart. The hosts were unable to get a grip in defense and conceded too many turnovers in offense.
