Yan Diomande will not travel to the international matches in Côte d'Ivoire as planned. The attacker from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has been troubled by a shoulder injury since the 5-0 win against TSG Hoffenheim.
And the Saxons announced that he is currently unable to play. An exact diagnosis and the length of the absence were not disclosed. This will only be possible in the coming days, according to a club statement.
According to media reports at the weekend, there was talk of a shorter absence than initially feared. According to these reports, the problem is not an acromioclavicular joint fracture, meaning Diomande could possibly be fit for action after the international break.
The 19-year-old is one of the great discoveries of this Bundesliga season. In 26 league games, he scored ten times and set up seven goals. Diomande moved to Leipzig from Spanish second division club CD Leganes in the summer and has been causing a stir ever since. He became an international for Côte d'Ivoire, who will also face Germany in the preliminary round of the World Cup. So far, the striker has played nine international matches and scored three goals.
