The start of the new year is falling victim to the weather conditions for most clubs in the Regionalliga Nordost. Seven of the nine matches scheduled for the coming weekend have already been canceled by the North East German Football Association (NOFV) "due to the current weather conditions and multiple pitch closures/unplayability of the pitches". However, the matchday will not be canceled "and will not be canceled in the future."
The Friday matches BFC Dynamo - BFC Preußen and FC Eilenburg - Hertha BSC II as well as FSV 63 Luckenwalde - 1. FC Magdeburg II and Chemie Leipzig - Chemnitzer FC have already been canceled. Hertha Zehlendorf and Hallesche FC remain at home on Saturday, while the matches between Greifswalder FC and Rot-Weiß Erfurt and FSV Zwickau and Babelsberg 03 are canceled on Sunday.
So far, the match between ZFC Meuselwitz and league leaders Lok Leipzig scheduled for Saturday and Carl Zeiss Jena against VSG Altglienicke, who are due to play on Sunday, have not been canceled.
