The Bundesliga footballers of RB Leipzig will have to do without new signing Diana Nemeth for some time. The 20-year-old tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during a test match against Hamburger SV (1-0) on Saturday, as the club announced following an MRI scan. The left-back will undergo surgery and will be out for several months.
The Hungarian international, who joined from league rivals VfL Wolfsburg and signed a contract until the summer of 2028, was injured in a tackle in the 30th minute of the match.
"The loss of Diana Nemeth is extremely bitter. She settled in with us very quickly after her transfer and impressed both on and off the pitch. We will provide her with intensive support during her rehab and give her all the support she needs," said Viola Odebrecht, Head of Women's and Girls' Football.
