A young coach is to lead HFC back into the 3rd division. He knows the league and the region.

Halle FC will start the new season in the North-East Regional Football League with Robert Schröder as head coach. The 37-year-old succeeds Mark Zimmermann, with whom HFC recently parted ways. Schröder comes to the Saale from regional league rivals Hertha 03 Zehlendorf and will receive a contract until June 30, 2027, regardless of the league.

"Robert made an extremely knowledgeable and clear impression in our personal talks. We were particularly impressed by his analysis of our players and matches, as well as his identification of weaknesses and possible solutions. Apart from that, he also meets the soft criteria such as promotion experience, regionality and knowledge of the league," said sporting director Daniel Meyer in a club statement.

Born in Erfurt, Schröder began his career as a player at Rot-Weiß Erfurt, later played for Viktoria Berlin and Hertha 03 and finally switched to coaching in 2021.
