SC Magdeburg faces its first tough test in preparation for the new season. The handball team wants to continue its winning streak.

The SC Magdeburg handball team will travel to the Wartburg Cup with the aim of defending their title. From Friday to Sunday, the Champions League winners will face TBV Lemgo Lippe, hosts ThSV Eisenach and Skanderborg AGF from Denmark. "That will be tough. Three games in three days is already a challenge, especially against these teams," backcourt ace Omar Ingi Magnusson was quoted as saying in a press release.

The team of coach Bennet Wiegert wants to continue its successful run of five test game wins so far and bring the cup back to the Elbe. "This will be our first tough test, where we not only want to take the next step forward in sporting terms, but also be successful. Of course, we're going there to win - that's what we always want," said Magnusson.

Quick reunion with Lemgo

Two weeks before the start of the new Bundesliga season, there is still work to be done on fine-tuning and reducing mistakes. The new signings also need to be further integrated. The season opener on Friday (20:00) against Lemgo will be under particular scrutiny. Exactly 14 days later, the runners-up will play their Bundesliga opener at the Lippe.
