The relegation worries of third-division soccer club Erzgebirge Aue are increasing. Six days after the 2-1 defeat at home to Energie Cottbus, coach Christoph Dabrowski's side also lost 3-1 (1-1) at home to VfL Osnabrück on matchday 26.
In front of 7,273 spectators at the Erzgebirgsstadion, Ismail Badjie had given the visitors an early lead in the 17th minute, benefiting from a misunderstanding between Aue defenders Ryan Malone and Tristan Zobel. Aue's top scorer Marcel Bär had the chance to equalize two minutes later, but his header failed to beat Osnabrück goalkeeper Lukas Jonsson.
Surprise equalizer for Aue
Osnabrück dominated the game and created a number of opportunities. However, Julian Günther-Schmidt surprised the visitors with a fine move to make it 1-1 shortly before half-time (42').
Aue were much more agile after the break and were on level terms with the visitors without creating any chances. Osnabrück were more effective, however, and scored twice to take the lead: Substitute Tony Lesueur scored to restore the visitors' lead (73') and set up former Dresden player Robin Meißner three minutes later to seal Aue's fifth home defeat.
