The RB Leipzig women's soccer team finished their second season in the Bundesliga in eighth place. The Saxons were also beaten 0:2 (0:2) by Eintracht Frankfurt in their final game of the season. In front of 1650 spectators, Geraldine Reuteler (20) and Nicole Anyomi (37) scored before the break for the final score.
After a strong opening phase by the RB women, the favored Frankfurt women took control. Leipzig defended with passion and repeatedly tried to move forward quickly, but they were unable to create any chances for a long time. In the 86th minute, Lydia Andrade missed the best opportunity to connect with the Frankfurt goal.
Fair gesture shortly before half-time
Frankfurt's Laura Freigang created the scene of the match in the 44th minute. Completely unchallenged, the international decided not to score and knocked the ball out of play. She was reacting to an injury to RB captain Victoria Krug, who was lying in her own penalty area and needed treatment.
Before the game, ten players were sent off at RB Leipzig, including Vanessa Fudalla and Andrade, who have been key players for many years. So far, six new players have signed for the coming season. On Saturday, the club announced the signing of Denmark's Nikoline Dudek. The 21-year-old right-back comes to Leipzig from FC Nordsjælland and has signed a contract until the summer of 2028.
