The completely new RB Leipzig team started with a win in Cologne. In doing so, they took advantage of their superior personnel. The next game will be a real endurance test.

The RB Leipzig women's soccer team started the new Bundesliga season with an away win. Head coach Jonas Stephan's newly formed team won 2:0 (1:0) at 1. FC Köln. Marleen Schimmer (14th minute) put the visitors ahead with a shot from 25 meters. However, Cologne's keeper looked anything but good.

From the 57th minute onwards, Cologne had to play short-handed as Celina Degen, who had already been cautioned, was shown a yellow card for clipping. Leipzig took advantage of this: after a quickly taken corner, Sandra Starke (63) headed home to make it 2-0.

Now a tough test against Bayern

The RB women, who had to integrate eleven newcomers alone, will now face the ultimate acid test at home against double winners FC Bayern in the Red Bull Arena next Sunday (14:00).
