RB Leipzig is breaking new ground in preparation for the coming season. The Bundesliga club will hold its first overseas training camp, moving to New Jersey from July 28 to August 4. The club made the announcement on Thursday.

The academy of sister club New York Red Bulls will serve as the base, and there will be a reunion with fan favorite Emil Forsberg, who moved to the USA in January. A test match against Aston Villa is scheduled for July 31 (8 p.m. local time), with a second match still being planned.

"The USA is one of the most exciting sports markets in the world, especially in view of the 2026 World Cup, and enthusiasm for soccer is increasing," said sporting director Rouven Schröder. Managing Director Johann Plenge said: "This is an important step for us, but also for the Bundesliga, which rightly enjoys a special reputation in the USA."
