RB Leipzig is focusing on continuity in the coaching position in the women's Bundesliga. The contract with Jonas Stephan, who has been at Leipzig since the summer of 2024, has been extended ahead of schedule until June 30, 2028, the club announced. The Pein native succeeded Saban Uzun.
"Jonas has a clear idea of the game, is ambitious and has already proven that he can improve players individually. Now we have to continue on our chosen path and build on that," said Viola Odebrecht, Head of Women's and Girls' Football at RB Leipzig.
The 33-year-old moved to Leipzig over a year ago from the U19s of Eintracht Braunschweig. Between 2018 and 2020, the Uefa Pro license holder was the men's assistant coach at the Lions. After a stopover with the senior juniors in Chemnitz, Stephan returned to Braunschweig as head of the youth training center before making the move to Leipzig in the summer of 2024.
