National player David Raum is considered a mentality monster at RB Leipzig. He ensures healthy communication in the dressing room. That was different in the previous season, as he explains.

A change within Germany is not an issue for national soccer player David Raum. "Where to? No, there will be no change in the Bundesliga," said the 27-year-old in the ZDF sports studio. The RB Leipzig captain has clear ideas about his future. "I've always said that English soccer, the Premier League, suits me very well. That's why it was always on my mind," said Raum, who still has a contract with the Saxons until the summer of 2027.

"A different person on the pitch"

An extension is conceivable for him, because "the role, the recognition and the standing at RB Leipzig" are very good for him. He feels very comfortable. "We are currently shaping a new era, so I can be the leader," he emphasized. He also explains his different demeanor on and off the pitch quite simply. "I'm a different person on the pitch, but I'm still me. This scumbag mentality is a very positive quality, it just sounds a bit strange," said the left-back.

He has been the new captain at RB since the start of the season. Compared to the previous season, when Leipzig missed out on qualifying for international business for the first time and played their worst season since being promoted to the first division in 2016, the mood is intact despite the 3-1 defeat at TSG Hoffenheim. "Bit by bit, the mood in the dressing room has changed, many players were dissatisfied, realized that we might not play internationally and wanted to present themselves," Raum gave an insight into the inner workings - without naming names. "That's in the past now, we've regrouped, we're a completely new team. I have taken on the responsibility of not running away and fleeing, but to turn the tide."
