For the second time in a row, a local hero is missing from the motorcycle race at the Sachsenring. It was different between 1950 and 2023. But the ADAC believes in promoting talent.

The promotion of promising motorcycle racing talent by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC) will soon bear fruit, according to its head of motorsport. "The number of participants in the entry-level Mini and Pocket Bike Cup classes has risen sharply over the past two years," Thomas Voss told the German Press Agency ahead of the world championship round at the Sachsenring. "We have great young talent who are making the leap into international sport, so hopefully the phase without German riders in the world championship will soon be over."

Last year, for the first time since 1950, there was no German rider in any of the three world championship classes. A local hero is also missing this year. However, there are positive signs, as three German talents lead the overall standings in the Northern Talent Cup.

Bradl and Tulovic provide support

The racing series for young riders, which is sponsored by the ADAC, Honda and rights holder Dorna, is part of the supporting program this weekend. The Motorsport Team Germany riders will also receive support from former world champion Stefan Bradl and former Moto2 rider Lukas Tulovic.

With a view to the upcoming race weekend at the Sachsenring, Voss believes that another record attendance is possible. "If the weather is right this weekend, we might set a new record again," he said. In 2024, 252,826 visitors came to the track.
