A move by soccer coach Jacob Neestrup to the Bundesliga has failed for the time being. The 37-year-old will continue to coach FC Copenhagen in the coming season, which is why all inquiries to the head coach have been rejected. The Danish club announced this in a statement this evening.
The Bundesliga clubs VfL Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig are said to have been interested in the Dane. Neestrup has won two championships and two cups with Denmark's top club. His contract in the capital is valid until 2029.
RB Leipzig are looking for a successor to interim coach Zsolt Löw. The 46-year-old took over from Marco Rose in March and returned to work alongside Jürgen Klopp in Red Bull's global soccer strategy team at the end of the season. Wolfsburg are also said to have set their sights on the Dane in their search for a successor to Ralph Hasenhüttl.
