The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has celebrated its third successive victory in the German league. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore defeated newly promoted Gladiators Trier by 96:84 (46:41). Amadou Sow was the Niners' best scorer with 27 points in front of 4,880 spectators and they are now 14:12 ahead.
The home side started with a lot of energy and quickly went 12:4 (6th minute) in front. Trier acted carelessly and conceded six turnovers in the first quarter. However, Chemnitz failed to pull further ahead, as its shooting percentage dropped significantly after the good start. The visitors stabilized in offense in the second quarter, but the Niners maintained their lead up to the break, also thanks to many second chances to score.
After the break, Trier went on a hot run from the foul line and turned the game around with an 11:0 run to make it 60:57 in the 26th minute. However, Chemnitz was unimpressed and responded with eight points in succession. They also kept up the pace in the final quarter and pulled 92:80 ahead by the 36th minute.
