The Chemnitz Bundesliga basketball team's hopes of springing a surprise against top FC Bayern Munich quickly faded. In the end, they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season.

The Niners Chemnitz basketball team remains winless in the German league this year. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore was clearly beaten 59:87 (27:42) by leaders Bayern Munich on Sunday. In front of 5,000 spectators, Yordan Minchev and Amadou Sow were the Niners' best scorers with twelve points each. Ex-Chemnitz player Isiaha Mike stood out for the strong Munich side with 16 points.

The club from Saxony trailed by 7:16 (7th minute) in the first quarter and showed clear disadvantages against the champions, especially below the basket. A brief spurt to make it 16:21 in the 12th minute gave them hope, but Bayern struck back with an 11:2 run to take a comfortable 32:18 lead at the break.

After the break, Munich also prevented the Niners from establishing a rhythm in offense with its aggressive defense. They pulled 54:34 ahead by the 24th minute and so forced an early preliminary decision. Although Chemnitz did not let itself down, it was not able to get any closer due to its poor three-point percentage (10/39).
