RB Leipzig are still looking for reinforcements in the center of midfield in the final transfer phase. "That's a point where we're simply keeping our eyes open once again," said coach Marco Rose. The 47-year-old emphasized that they "won't do anything crazy". Due to Xaver Schlager's cruciate ligament rupture, there are currently only three professionals available for the two positions. Full-back Benjamin Henrichs would be an additional option.
Schlager suffered a serious knee injury in May and is fully on track with his recovery. "Nevertheless, we know that we still have two or three months to go until he is fit to train and play," said Rose. Nicolas Seiwald and Kevin Kampl are competing for the place alongside Amadou Haidara. Seiwald is likely to have the better cards in the Bundesliga opener against VfL Bochum (3.30pm/Sky) on Saturday.
