After its first Champions League victory, Leipzig wants to play boldly in Munich as well. After all, its recent record there has been dismal. Former Bayern pro Demichelis is setting the tone.

RB Leipzig is aiming for its first away points in the Bundesliga. After two losses in Bremen and Leverkusen, they’re hoping to pull off an upset against Germany’s all-time record champion, Bayern Munich, on Saturday (6:30 p.m./Sky).

Former Bayern defender and youth coach Martín Demichelis is setting the tone for the match. “We have to defend compactly, but we’ll also go on the attack. We won’t just stand around the box and try to keep a clean sheet. That won’t work against Bayern,” said the Argentine RB head coach, who is well aware of the situation: “Bayern wins ten out of ten games.”

Most recently, a 1-11 goal tally against Bayern

Last year, the season opener in Munich ended in a 0-6 rout, followed by a crushing 1-5 defeat at home. A 1-11 goal difference in two games—RB is out for redemption. “If we give 100 percent, we can beat anyone and hopefully come home with three points. We have good team spirit and trust each other,” said Brajan Gruda, who scored the winning goal in Leipzig’s 1-0 Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven.

Unlike on the road, things have gone much better for Leipzig at home. Before the 6-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, they defeated HSV 5-0 and sent Gladbach home with a 3-0 loss. They now hope to carry that 14-0 record into their away games. “If we can strike a certain balance there, I’d be happy,” said RB captain David Raum.
