Even with a possible coach in Ralf Rangnick, Willi Orban does not expect Bayern to be superior. Instead, the RB Leipzig captain sees his own team as having a chance of winning the title.

RB Leipzig captain Willi Orban does not expect a rapid return to the dominance of FC Bayern Munich as in the past decade. According to the defender, other teams will also have chances of winning the championship in the coming years, as Leverkusen have shown this season.

"I expect Bayern to continue to be in a process," Orban told "Sport Bild". "A new coach, changes to the squad - you don't solve that overnight. Bayern are always strong, but in my opinion they won't be as dominant as they have been in the past ten years for the time being."

Ralf Rangnick is currently considered the top candidate for the coaching position in Munich after Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann failed to convince him. "I can only say from my experience at RB Leipzig that Ralf Rangnick is an absolute top coach," said Orban. "He has a clear idea of how to play soccer and has the ability to develop young players in particular." For the 31-year-old, Rangnick is a visionary with a strong capacity for enthusiasm.

No new upheaval

Orban attributes Leipzig's lack of titles this season to Bayern's weakness to last summer's upheaval. In Josko Gvardiol, Konrad Laimer, Dominik Szoboszlai and top scorer Christopher Nkunku, four pillars left the team. "To put it bluntly and honestly: we were never in a position to compete at the very top due to the upheaval, but we've made the best of it so far." RB reached the last 16 of the Champions League and qualification for the top flight via the league is as good as certain.

Orban believes Leipzig are in a better position for the coming season. "If we can continue in roughly the same constellation, that's a great basis," said the Hungarian international. "I'm pretty sure that there won't be any major changes. I have a lot of faith in those in charge."
