Giovanna Hoffmann from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig can hope to make her first appearance for the national team. The 26-year-old attacker has been nominated by new national coach Christian Wück for the upcoming international matches, as announced by the club and the DFB. With coach Wück also making his debut, the German team will face hosts England at Wembley Stadium on October 25 (8.30pm), followed three days later by Australia in Duisburg (6.10pm).
Hoffmann moved to Leipzig from SC Freiburg last summer and scored three goals in his first five league games. He also provided three assists. "I haven't really realized yet that it's really happening," said Hoffmann, "it's an incredible honour to be able to play for Germany and take part in the training course. My path to this point was long and not without obstacles, so I'm simply overjoyed and very grateful that I can now be part of it."
