The ThSV Eisenach handball team have celebrated their fourth win of the season and thus gained some breathing space in the fight against relegation. The charges of head coach Sebastian Hinze got the upper hand on home court against GWD Minden by 33:28 (17:17). Felix Aellen (8/2), Moritz Ende (6) and Oskar Joellsen (5/1) scored the most goals for the home side. Karolis Antanavicius (6), Florian Kranzmann (5/3) and Ian Weber (5) were particularly successful for the visitors.
After taking an early 4:1 lead (6'), the Eisenach attacking machine briefly ran into sand. Twelve minutes later, Minden equalized at 9:9 and took the lead for the first time at 11:10 in the 20th minute. The home side was thwarted too often in this spell by the visitors' goalkeeper Malte Semisch, who saved a total of eleven shots.
However, the club from Thuringia got off to a furious start to the second half. Eisenach produced a 9:2 run to turn a 17:18 deficit (32') into a 26:20 lead (45'). The home side fed off this cushion until the final whistle. Former international Silvio Heinevetter played a big part in the turnaround with his seven saves after the break.
