The ThSV Eisenach handball team have celebrated their fourth win of the season in the Bundesliga and moved into a secure mid-table position. The club from Thuringia came out on top against Frisch Auf Göppingen by 35:25 (15:11) in front of their home crowd. Filip Vistorop (11), Philipp Mayer (7) and Marko Grgic (5) played the biggest part in the success. Erik Persson, Ludvig Jurmala Aström (5 each) and Marcel Schiller (4/3) scored the most goals for Göppingen.
The home side only trailed once (0:1 in the 1st minute) and then dominated the scene on court. Göppingen was at least able to keep within touching distance up to 10:9 (23'). Eisenach produced a 5:1 run to make it 15:10 (30') before the break.
The home side did not concede a single goal in the first seven minutes after the break, also thanks to its outstanding goalkeeper Matija Spikic (16 saves), and pulled 21:11 ahead in the 37th minute. The Thuringians did not let this lead slip from their grasp over the course of the game.
