After the first victory in the current season of the German Basketball League, the main feeling at the Syntainics MBC was one of relief. "The win was the reward for the hard work we've put in since the start of the season. It was also very important for our morale and it will give us momentum for the tasks ahead," said Head Coach Pedrag Krunic.
The club from Weißenfels had won 97:89 against BG Göttingen on Saturday evening. The win lifted the MBC to penultimate place and it can already leave the relegation places with a victory in Rostock on Friday.
The team's nerves of steel were decisive against Göttingen. Krunic's team was already comfortably ahead, but Göttingen went back in front after a 9:0 run in the final period. However, the MBC turned the momentum and ensured a preliminary decision with a 10:2 run of its own with four minutes remaining.
