Bundesliga handball club ThSV Eisenach is still in the midst of a results crisis. The 29:31 (12:12) defeat at HSV Hamburg was the fifth defeat in a row for the team from Wartburg. The best scorers in front of 3,321 spectators were Marko Grgic from Eisenach and Frederik Bo Andersen from Hamburg with nine goals each.
The visitors once again played with an extremely offensive defense right from the start. At times, ThSV coach Misha Kaufmann had four players attack their opponents almost to the halfway line. In attack, the position of pivot remained vacant.
Eisenach's style of play causes Hamburg problems
The home side had a number of problems with this style of play. Hamburg went without a goal between the 12th and 21st minute and had goalkeeper Mohamed El-Tayar to thank for not falling far behind during that spell. However, Eisenach goalkeeper Matija Spikic also produced some strong saves.
With a seventh outfield player in place of the goalkeeper, the North Germans then got into the game better. The hosts built up a narrow lead, which they managed to hold on to with skill and a little luck.
