The handball team ThSV Eisenach has gained some breathing space in the relegation battle with its seventh win of the season. The club from Thuringia came out on top 33:31 (21:12) against third-bottom Bergischer HC in front of a home crowd on Monday evening. They climbed to twelfth place in the table and are now eight points clear of the first relegation spot.
Gian Attenhofer (7 goals), Vincent Büchner (6) and Felix Aellen (5/1) played the biggest part in the home side's success. Noah Beyer (7/1), Nico Schöttle (6) and Toams Babak (4) scored the most for Bergischer HC.
The players of Head Coach Sebastian Hinze laid the foundation for their success with an outstanding first half. The home side got off to a perfect start and pulled away from 7:2 (12'), 14:7 (20') and 19:9 (26'). Eisenach maintained this lead without any problems. Bergischer HC was not able to reduce the deficit any further than 32:20 in the 59th minute.
