Dynamo Dresden drew 3-3 (1-0) with Bundesliga side SC Freiburg in the last test before the start of the 2nd Bundesliga season and can go into their first second league game on Saturday (1.30pm/Sky) at SpVgg. Greuther Fürth with confidence.
The newly promoted team took the lead after 22 minutes through Vinko Sapina in Schruns, Austria, where the SC completed a ten-day training camp. In the XXL test over 4x30 minutes, Robin Meißner (70') increased the lead to 2:0 after a counter-attack. Lucas Höler (82') took advantage of a Dynamo mistake in defense to connect, SC newcomer Igor Matanovic (95') scored the equalizer after an individual action, before Höler (111') again gave Freiburg the lead. Jan-Hendrik Marx finally scored the not undeserved equalizer. Dynamo veteran Stefan Kutschke (84) failed to beat Freiburg's substitute keeper Florian Müller with a penalty.
Stamm's starting eleven impressed
Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm fielded his presumed starting eleven for Fürth for the first 60 minutes. And they did very well for 35 minutes, not allowing the Bundesliga side to develop. With clever pressing, plenty of pace on the flanks and imaginative attacks and set-pieces, they created several opportunities.
Nils Fröling (14) narrowly missed, while a header from Christoph Daferner (21) missed the goal by just centimetres. The opening goal was the result of a defensive error by Maximilian Philipp, who failed to make a proper clearance under pressure. Sapina followed up energetically and had no trouble slotting in.
Dresden's defensive play also worked quite well. Only former Dresden player Vincenzo Grifo had two good opportunities. Firstly, he shot over the goal from a free position (44'), and in the second, he was attacked at the last moment by Jakob Lemmer, who was sprinting strongly backwards, just before finishing off a counter-attack.
Second row shows fighting qualities
Both coaches made lively changes in the second half. Niklas Hauptmann made his 20-minute comeback for Dynamo after his injury lay-off and was then replaced by new signing Luca Herrmann, who made a very committed and invigorating debut.
Dynamo increased the lead to 2:0, but Freiburg had the upper hand after scoring the equalizer and missing a penalty. Dresden had further chances through Herrmann, but Höler's second goal seemed to decide the game. Dynamo fought and were rewarded with the equalizer through Marx.
