The Dresdner Eislöwen are continuing to upgrade. The newly promoted DEL team has lured defender Alec McCrea from relegated Düsseldorf EG to the Elbe.

The Dresdner Eislöwen are pressing ahead with their squad planning for the new season. The newly promoted DEL team has announced that defenseman Alec McCrea from the USA is joining coach Niklas Sundblad's team. The 30-year-old is moving to the Elbe from relegated Düsseldorf EG.

After gaining a lot of experience in the North American leagues, the 1.91-metre right winger made the leap to Europe in 2021 and signed with the Iserlohn Roosters. After one season, he moved to Düsseldorfer EG, for whom he has been a reliable player in defense for the past three years.

"With Alec, we're getting a defenseman who lives the North American style of play, plays physically strong and has a lot of DEL experience. He's very reliable in his own zone, blocks shots, cleans up in front of the goal and has a good first pass. He will provide further stability in our defensive department," explained Eislöwen sporting director Matthias Roos.
