Dresdner SC's women's volleyball team ended the year with a defeat. Despite an outright defeat in the East derby against Schwerin, they remain top of the table.

Dresdner SC's volleyball players suffered their first home defeat in the Bundesliga in their last match of the year. Alexander Waibl's team were beaten 0:3 (20:25, 22:25, 22:25) by their rivals SSC Palmberg Schwerin in front of 3,000 spectators.

The team from Mecklenburg was able to reduce the deficit to two points. Nevertheless, the team from the city on the Elbe remain top of the table after 13 match days.

The hosts quickly fell behind in the first set. Their reception was shaky and their build-up play suffered as a result. In addition, the block proved to be too full of holes and the DSC ladies were often one step too late in defense.

Third match point converted after 78 minutes

Even though they got into the game a little better in the next two periods and kept fighting for every ball, they were unable to show their usual top level in front of a sell-out crowd.

They were particularly unable to get a grip on Schwerin's diagonal attacker Elles Dambrink (19 points). DSC top scorer Marta Levinska (9) also did not have her best day. As a result, Schwerin was able to convert its third match point to win after 78 minutes.
