Dresden's volleyball players had to fight hard in Suhl to secure their first two points in the delayed start to the Bundesliga.

Two weeks after winning the Supercup, the Dresden SC women's volleyball team also started the Bundesliga series with a win. In the East derby at VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen, Alexander Waibl's charges came back from 2:1 down to win 3:2 (25:20, 19:25, 18:25, 25:22, 15:13).

However, it was hard work for the German cup winners, who had an involuntary two-week break after Potsdam returned their license. After a good start in the first set, which the Elbe club dominated with a powerful service game and variable attacks, the visitors completely lost the thread in the second and third sections. Suhl stepped up their game and now put their opponents under pressure with their serve, while Sanaa Dotsen, who was later voted MVP, and diagonal attacker Monika Brancusca scored reliably and the VfB team also improved in defense.

In the fourth set, Waibl's players were able to minimize their error rate and make their defense more stable. They fought back against the threat of defeat with a lot of passion and great fighting spirit and managed to equalize the set. The two teams did not give each other anything in the tie-break either. In the decisive phase, Dresden's block defense stood firm and the Japanese Miku Akimoto (22 points) repeatedly put the balls in the opposing court. Middle blocker Mette Pfeffer, who contributed 14 points, was awarded the gold MVP medal.
