The Berlin Administrative Court has declared the continuation of demolition work on the historic Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg to be legitimate for the time being. On Thursday evening, the court rejected an application by the Naturfreunde association for a so-called interim injunction. This was announced on Friday.
A spokeswoman for the court emphasized that this was not a decision on the association's urgent application. "This is still open." The court had merely ruled that the state of Berlin "may continue the demolition work for the time being - i.e. until a court decision on the urgent application".
The Naturfreunde Berlin association had filed an urgent application to stop the demolition work on the stadium until species protection in the sports park had been sufficiently taken into account. This concerns the protection of breeding grounds for birds and bats.
