Chemnitz celebrates unchallenged 82:68 win against Braunschweig

With their 25th win of the season, the Niners Chemnitz can no longer be displaced from one of the top four places and have secured home court for the playoff quarter-finals.

The Niners Chemnitz basketball team celebrated its 25th win of the season in the German league against Basketball Lions Braunschweig on Wednesday. The players of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore got the upper hand against Basketball Lions Braunschweig by 82:68 (50:37) and secured home court for the playoff quarter-finals. The club from Saxony can no longer be displaced from one of the top four places in the table. Ousman Krubally (18 points), DeAndre Lansdowne (14), Jeff Garrett (13) and Wesley van Beck (10) played the biggest part in the success. Barra Njie (15), Nicholas Tischer (14), Jilson Bango (12) and Brandon Tischler (11) scored the most points for Brauschweig.

The home side had slight difficulties in the opening minutes. However, the Saxons turned a 16:20 deficit after nine minutes into 27:20 within 180 seconds with an 11:0 run and stretched their lead to 42:24 by the 16th minute. Chemnitz fed off this cushion until the final whistle. Braunschweig only came dangerously close again in the 36th minute (71:66). However, the Niners were no longer able to turn the game around. The club from Saxony had a far better shooting percentage (53 percent compared to 39 percent for Lower Saxony) from the floor and also dominated under the boards (43:29 rebounds).
