Hunger against commerce: The umbrella organization for Borussia Mönchengladbach fans is calling for a bizarre protest for the game at RB Leipzig. "For once, give up the beer and sausage in the stadium," writes FPMG Supporters Club ahead of the game on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky). "Every additional euro that goes directly or indirectly to RB is counterproductive."
Some Mönchengladbach fans are particularly persistent in their protest against RB Leipzig. Almost traditionally, whistles are blown every time Leipzig have possession of the ball in the first 19 minutes. This has "now established itself and is an elementary component of our protest." The protest is aimed at the "hated construct that contradicts all values and convictions".
Revenue from bratwurst and beer can be quite significant. While no information is provided on Leipzig's figures, Borussia Dortmund earned one million euros per match from catering in the 2024/25 season, according to Sport Bild. BVB has an average attendance of over 80,000, Leipzig has just over half of that. On Saturday, Gladbach fans will have 4,735 seats at their disposal.
