André Silva is leaving RB Leipzig to join FC Elche, who have been promoted to the Spanish first division. This was announced by the Leipzig club. "André has always behaved professionally and in a team-oriented manner at RB Leipzig. Even in a challenging phase for him, he has accepted his role with great character and an exemplary attitude," said sporting director Marcel Schäfer. Details of the contract have not been disclosed. The transfer fee is reportedly €1.5 million.
The 29-year-old striker moved to Leipzig from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2021 for a fee of around €23 million and played a total of 110 games in an RB shirt. He played for Real Sociedad on loan in the 2023/2024 season and was loaned out to SV Werder Bremen in the second half of the previous season. The Portuguese, who won the DFB Cup with the Saxons in 2022 and 2023, was unable to really assert himself at any club.
