In the search for a successor to Marco Rose, Bundesliga club RB Leipzig is said to have contacted former Bundesliga coach Oliver Glasner. This was reported by the TV channel Sky. Following Rose's departure, Zsolt Löw initially took over the job at the Saxons. However, he is only expected to coach RB until the summer and then return to the team of global soccer boss Jürgen Klopp.
Glasner, who sensationally led Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League triumph in 2022, is currently under contract with English Premier League club Crystal Palace. Last weekend, he led the club to the FA Cup semi-finals. However, RB would have to pay a transfer fee for him. Last year, FC Bayern is also said to have been interested in finding a successor to Thomas Tuchel.
Leipzig's sporting director Marcel Schäfer knows Glasner from their days at Wolfsburg. The Austrian has a RB past himself. Between 2012 and 2014, he was assistant coach at Red Bull Salzburg under Roger Schmidt, who is also being considered as the new coach at Leipzig.
