Jena's footballers remain at the bottom of the table. After a desolate performance in Nuremberg, their survival in the league is in doubt.

The Carl Zeiss Jena women's soccer team is approaching relegation from the Bundesliga with seven match days to go. On matchday 19, coach Florian Kästner's team suffered a debacle with a 1:5 (0:4) defeat at 1. FC Nuremberg, who are eleventh in the table. The game at the Max Morlock Stadium was already decided by half-time after goals from Clara Fröhlich from the penalty spot (11th minute), Luisa Guttenberger (29th), Emöke Papai (34th) and Nastassja Lein (45th +1).

The visitors from Thuringia never performed at Bundesliga level and had a pass rate of less than 50 percent in the first half. Nuremberg conserved resources early on after the break. Aneta Polaskova, who had just come on as a substitute, scored the hosts' fifth goal with one minute remaining. Josephine Bonsu scored the consolation goal (90.+3).
