The Sorbs rely on continuity in their representation of interests. The old and new Domowina leader calls on people to work to preserve the Sorbian language.

Dawid Statnik remains Chairman of the Lusatian Sorbs' Association (Domowina). The 41-year-old was confirmed in office at the Domowina general meeting in Bautzen. Statnik has held this position since 2011. He is assisted by Marlis Müller as the new vice-chairwoman and Hartmut Leipner as a further deputy. A new Federal Executive Board was also elected. In addition to Statnik and the two deputies, it consists of 24 women and men.

Statnik appealed to the Sorbian community to work towards preserving the language. "We want to reach 100,000 Sorbian speakers by 2100 - we can only achieve this together." The Sorbs are a national minority of Slavic origin. Around 60,000 of them live in eastern Saxony and southern Brandenburg.
